Trade unions and employers will be exempt from paying state registration fees under a law approved today in first reading with a vote of 69 deputies.

According to the current legislation, trade union entities pay a state registration fee of 1149 lei and employers – 90 lei. Thus, the legislative changes adopted today will ensure fairness for social partners in the registration process and guarantee respect for the fundamental right of employees and employers to establish and join trade unions and employers’ organisations.

According to statistical data, there has been a significant increase in the number of registered organisations, especially in the public sector, from 2-3 entities in 2009-2010 to 46 at the beginning of this year.
