A Memorandum of Understanding for the reform of the energy sector has been signed between four public authorities and the French Development Agency

Today, the Government of the Republic of Moldova, represented by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Environment, signed the Memorandum of Understanding “Green Reform for Moldova” with the French Development Agency.
The document provides for the implementation of an Energy Policy Loan Programme to support the Government’s reform efforts to propel the energy sector towards a greener future, with a particular focus on reforms in energy infrastructure, energy efficiency, renewable energy, support for vulnerable energy consumers and environmental protection.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection is involved in the implementation of four measures by the end of 2028: re-evaluation of the support scheme for the winter period 2023-2024; operationalisation of the second Energy Vulnerability Fund mechanism for the replacement of old appliances of the most vulnerable consumers; implementation of additional support schemes for vulnerable consumers outside the winter period; development of an operational digital platform for all support schemes for energy vulnerable consumers.
