The new Minister of Labour and Social Protection was introduced to the Ministry team

Alexei Buzu, the new Minister of Labour and Social Protection, was sworn in today and presented to the Ministry’s team by the Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.
In her speech at the swearing-in ceremony, the Chief Executive thanked Minister Buzu for accepting to join the government team and wished him success in his mandate. Natalia Gavrilița said that the priorities of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection would remain the same – the promotion of the right to work in decent conditions worthy of a European state, as well as state solidarity with citizens in need.
“These two objectives are mutually conditional. We will not be able to achieve the goal of having a truly social state until we have a labour market that operates according to rules respected by all, generating jobs and income that will allow us to increase not only social benefits but also the quality of public services in this sphere”, said Natalia Gavrilița.
She also thanked former Minister Marcel Spatari for his ambitious reforms in the areas of protecting employees’ rights, combating undeclared work, supporting families with children, as well as pension beneficiaries and people with disabilities. “We must ensure that every vulnerable person receives support from the state,” the Prime Minister said.
Alexei Buzu is a specialist in public policy and non-profit management and executive director of the Partnership for Development Centre. In the course of his work, he has supported several ministries in developing sectoral public policies, participated in initiatives to strengthen results in management processes, implement performance measurement systems, promote good governance and gender equality. He has also been a consultant and team leader for several international organisations in areas such as labour market, economic development, social assistance, demography, migration, education, health, water and sanitation.
